Q&A with Pastor Lateef
Q: Words that would best describe who Lateef is:
A: Family man, lover of God’s word, worshiper, passionate about the well-being and growth of people, and humorous.
Q: If you were not called to the ministry to pastor God’s people, what would you see yourself doing?
A: Working and mentoring young men full-time.
Q: What is one of your favorite scriptures, and why?
A: One of my favorite scriptures is 1 Peter 2:9 because this passage describes our generation. We are set apart and are not ashamed of being different. At a young age, many of this generation have experiences that those before us have never experienced or may have experienced later in life, and God has raised those who possess a hunger and thirst to serve Him with all of our hearts.
Q: Who had the most influence on you in ministry during your childhood?
A: Bishop Logan had the most influence as a child and even young adult because it was under his ministry; I accepted the call at the age of 12. His teaching built a foundation of studying the word, preparing myself naturally and spiritually before delivering Gods word. But even more important than learning how to deliver a message, Bishop Logan taught me the importance of establishing a relationship with God.
Q: If you had an opportunity to meet one person from history who would it be, and why?
A: I would want to meet Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to ask him what motivated him to continue fighting against injustice in the face of all odds. Dr. King not only believed in his vision but was able to articulate his vision in a manner that motivated and captured the heart and minds of millions of those young and old.
Q: What is most important to you in life?
A: Most important to me is my relationship with God and being the father that God has instructed for me to be. I want to continue to affirm my daughters Nyla and Zaria, establishing the highest level of expectations as the first man in their lives.
Q: What do you like to do in your free time?
A: Spend time with family.
Q: What sports team is most viewed on your home television?
A: The OSU Buckeyes. O-H-I-O!!!
